Thank you for your interest in adopting from Central Texas Little Dog Rescue.  We will adopt animals to adults 21 years of age and older who live in the Central Texas area - generally within 50 miles of Austin, Texas.

Adoption matches are done on a first-come, best-fit basis. This means that we go through the steps to find the best fit for our dogs and for your family.

Adoption Fees typically include vaccines as needed, spay or neuter, dental if needed, heartworm test, and deworming.

  • Adult dogs: $300.00
  • Puppies: $350.00
  • Medical cases: $400
  • Non-shedding, purebred or high-demand breeds: $450.00

Submit an Adoption Application

If you are interested in adopting, the first step is to complete an adoption application.

This application will help us learn more about you, your lifestyle, and your background with animals. An application is required before a meet and greet can be scheduled.

Application Review

Once we receive your application; we will review it. As part of the review process, we will contact your vet for a reference. Your current pets must be spayed or neutered, be up to date on vaccines, and dogs should be current on heartworm prevention. To help speed up this process, you can let your vet knows that it's ok to talk with us. If your veterinarian cannot verify your information, your app will be on hold until that information can be obtained.

If you live in an apartment, we will need to verify the pet policy for where you live.

There will be a brief phone interview to make sure we understand you and your lifestyle and what you are looking for in a dog and also so that you understand the personality of the dog and his needs.

Meet and Greet

Once the review is complete, we will set up a meet and greet. This can be at your home or the fosters home. The location is at the discretion of the foster. At this meet and greet both the foster parent and the potential adopter will decide if this pet is a good fit. It is possible for the potential adopter to have their current pets meet the foster dog at this meeting.

Home Visit

Once the adopter is chosen, a home visit is required. This is a short walk through the home and to ensure your yard doesn’t have any areas of concern. If there are areas of concern, we usually can advise ways to fix those while we are there. Say the fence has a gap, we can help you figure out a way to fix the gap so your new pup doesn’t get out. Your current pets will meet the new dog at this time in the home setting to make sure there are no issues there.

Adoption Complete

If everything is good with the home visit, the adoption contract will be signed, the adoption fee paid at this time and the pet will stay with you.
